New Orleans Outreach

The mission of New Orleans Outreach is to improve the quality of public education at our partner open-admission public schools by linking volunteers and community resources through high-quality in-school and afterschool programs that respond to the needs of each school.

Outreach was created in 1993 to bring community resources into what became the city’s first charter school. Today the organization has a full-time program manager in 6 open-admission schools. Outreach has managed the investment of more than 450,000 hours of skilled, motivated professional and volunteer service to its partner schools. More than 20,000 students have benefited from New Orleans Outreach programming.

Program Description
New Orleans Outreach gives public school students access to meaningful experiences that increase academic success, develop skills, and inspire them to participate fully in community life. Outreach recruits, trains, and places teachers, scientists, artists and volunteers in the classroom during the school day, after school, and in the summer.
